I admired these gin and tonics because of their beautiful garnishes… but also because of their price point! In Central London, pretty gin and tonics with nice gin for £8.50? All day? It seemed too good to be true.
Gin & tonics are beloved here in London – pubs and restaurants have whole collections of gins (and tonics for that matter). Despite their popularity, we had yet to try one on English soil. Gin is expensive here and we’re more glass-of-wine/pint-at-the-pub kind of people. That is not to say I wouldn’t enjoy myself a good gin & tonic every now and again! And upon seeing this Tweet, I was inspired to try one like a true Londoner – fancy tonic and all.
As luck would have it, we found ourselves in Soho on Valentine’s Day. With just enough time for a drink after work and before our Taco Tuesday/Valentine’s Day reservation, it was gin o’clock, indeed.
We walked over to Tapas Brindisa and took two seats at the tiny and cute bar. We were told that if we ordered olives or corn nuts, then our G&Ts would be £8.50. So we got some snacks and chose from the delicious sounding menu of fancy G&Ts.
I ordered the Sipsmith which comes with grapefruit, of course. Big grapefruit fan over here. Andrew got the Hendricks drink with cucumber, a classic. We watched as bartender skillfully carved up the fruits and veggies to create these fancy g&ts.
They were delicious and paired well with our olives, which were the perfect snack before our dinner. Nice ambiance, a delicious cocktail and a light snack… it was the perfect post-work treat!
You can get this deal Mondays through Thursdays from 4:30-6:30pm at Brindisa Soho. Let me know what you think!
